*Anglers are responsible for disposing of dead fish.

We hereby acknowledge that we have had an opportunity to read the Fishing Tournament Rules and Regulations set forth above, that we understand them and that anything that we do not understand has been explained to us, that we agree to abide by all federal, state, and local laws, and tournament rules and regulations, that we will operate our boat in a safe manner and will at all times conduct ourselves in the spirit of fair play and sportsmanship; further, that we hereby waive, release, and hold harmless the Got Your 6 Louisiana (GY6LA) organization, The Tournament Directors and any and all representatives and agents thereof, for any injuries and/or damages that either or both of us cause and/or suffer during, connected to, or arising from this tournament. We further agree that the Tournament Director may terminate my entry and remove either or both of us as contestants from the tournament at any time for just cause, with or without a refund or may reject this application for cause.

Tournament Rules & Regulations

  1. PURPOSE – The purpose of this tournament is to raise awareness of the contributions of our nation’s first responders, to promote sport fishing, to test the skills of the participants, and to provide fellowship and camaraderie among the participants, officials, and the community. 
  2. ELIGIBILITY – Participation shall be individual format open to men, women, and children of any age.  Participants under the age of eighteen must be accompanied by an adult and their parent and/or legal guardian must provide written parental permission on their Registration and Entry form.
  3. ENTRY FEE – One-hundred dollars ($100) per boat (max two fishing); Ten dollar ($20) per person Big Bass Option.
  4. REGISTRATION – Pe-Registration and advance payment open until 11:59 pm includes free shirt for team members. Advanced payment can be made via PayPal (QR code) which can be found on our flyer, website or facebook page. Regular registration and payment available up and including the morning of the tournament at 5:30 am.
  5. START AND END OF TOURNAMENT – All boats will launch from Earl G. Williamson. Tournament officials will play National Anthem at 6:30 am and call each boat by their assigned number to check live wells. First cast at 6:35 am. Contestants must be in line to weigh-in by 3:00 pm or incur a ½ lb. penalty per minute late. Anglers arriving for weigh-in at 3:30 pm, or later, will be disqualified.
  6. SAFETY – Boating safety must always be observed during competition.
  7. SPORTSMANSHIP – All participants will follow high standards of sportsmanship, courtesy, and safety.
  8. COMPLIANCE WITH THE LAW – All teams must comply with federal, state and local law(s).
  9. ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES AND DRUGS – During tournament hours no team shall be under the influence of, or in possession of alcohol or any illegal drugs or substances in his or her boat. 
  10. VIOLATIONS – Any team who commits an unsafe act, displays poor sportsmanship, fails to comply with federal, state, and/or local laws, and/or violates these rules and regulations, shall be disqualified.
  11. TOURNAMENT FISHING WATERS – Teams shall fish in Caddo Lake with the stipulation that teams shall not fish within fifty (50) yards of the boat launch or within fifty (50) yards of another boat that is anchored, tied up or has its trolling motor in the water unless permission is granted by the other boat. 
  12. EQUIPMENT
    (1) BOATS – Boats are subject to inspection by Tournament Officials at any time.  All boats other than hand-operated engines must be equipped with (a) an emergency shutoff device (kill switch); (b) personal floatation devices (lifejackets) for each person on board and must be fastened anytime the engine is operative; and (c) a live well or other provisions to maintain fish in good condition.
    (2) MOTORS – No motor shall exceed the hp maximums designated by the U.S. Coast Guard. 
    (3) TACKLE AND EQUIPMENT – Only rods and reels and fishing poles with artificial lures.
  13. PROHIBITED ACTIVITIES AND SPECIAL RULES
    (1) Having non-contestants in a team’s boat or sitting in a hole for you (saving your spot); 
    (2) Using guides or other third parties to fish for a team;
    (3) Leaving a boat to land a fish;
    (4) Restricting the natural movement of fish and/or access to waters by any means such as nets, tanks, dams, trees, or other obstructions;
    (5) Transporting live game fish taken in one area and releasing them in another area for the purpose of establishing a population in the new area within thirty days of the tournament;
    (6) Seeding any area with live or dead baitfish or any other type of chum or other fish attractants for the purposes of conditioning or congregating fish populations within two weeks of the tournament; 
    (7) Intentional snagging of fish; and/or
    (8) Failing to report violations or suggestions to violate these rules.
  14. WEIGH-IN AND SCORING – Only legal length black bass with a 12” minimum length is eligible to be weighed-in. Fish shorter than 12” and slot fish will be released back into the lake without being weighed. Each dead fish will incur a ½ lb. deduction of the weight of the fish. Each team may weigh-in up to six (6) black bass. Note: anglers are responsible for the disposal of dead fish.
  15. PRIZES – Placing and prizes are based on the total weight of six (6) bass fish. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places will receive trophies and cash prizes.
  16. TIE BREAKERS – If two participants tie for gross weight, the tie shall be broken in the following order: 1. The participant with the heavier fish; 2. The participant with the longer fish; 3.  The participants shall split any and all prizes.
  17. PROTESTS – All protests must be submitted verbally and then in writing no later than 3:00 pm. the date of the tournament. A protesting team may submit eyewitness reports, statements, photographs, videos and/or any other relevant evidence. The Tournament Director’s decision is final.
  18. OFFICIAL BOATS – Official boats, that is, tournament staff boats, may be on the lake to observe contestant teams. Each team is required to cooperate with all requests.
